10 More Low Floor Buses For Cochin

Kochites got a new gift from KSRTC on the occasion of this Onam 2010. Kerala State Road Transport Corporation yesterday introduced 10 more low floor non ac buses on the fleets of Cochin. These buses are bought under the JnNURM scheme and announced by the transport minister Jose Thettayil in Kochi on Saturday.

With the introduction of these buses, the total number of hightech lowfloor buses operated by the KSRTC in the city has gone up to 32. This includes 13 AC lowfloor Volvo buses. So the total number of city buses in the city has gone up to 82 (Includes 50 Thirukochi buses which introduced recently).

The buses, which started services on Saturday, will ply on the AroorAngamaly, Fort Kochi PerumbavoorKakkanad, and Puthencruz routes.

There will two buses each on the Puthencruz, Angamaly and Perumbavoor segments and two each in the Kakkanad and Aroor segments.

The government has plans to introduce more trips by KSRTC buses in the city and nearby areas to solve the travel woes of the Kochiites and to escape them from the rude and rough behavior of Private bus operators.
