Reviving the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) which was a white elephant was one of the many achievement of the four year rule of the Left Democratic Front (LDF).
According to the Chief Minister, VS Achutanandan, LDF Government had implemented a revival package for KSRTC using which the corporation had bought more than 2000 buses in the past four years. It resulted in the introduction of more than 1000 new schedules.
Thus by starting new schedules enabling the recruitment of almost 15000 people through the public service commission (PSC) and more than 4000 as temporary appointments.
Since the buses were purchased through the open tender system, KSRTC could save more than 1.5 Lakhs on each bus. Thrust of fuel efficiency further enabled the corporation to make handsome reductions on operational costs. During the past four years, the KSRTC's share of transport bus services in the state rose from 13% to 27%.

there is an order by the highcourt of kerala to stop all the parallel services in kerala. but the govt is not doing that . if the govt.take steps to stop all the parallel services, definitly ksrtc will get more collection without running any additional bus services.
ReplyDeletegovt suceeded in changing the colors of buses to the old red and green and bring back the ksrtc into 80's.only a minister like ganeshkumar can do some thing.but our politics wont allow any one to do some thing good.
ReplyDeleteGanesh Kumar's buses are the ones making maximum loss to KSRTC with poor fuel efficiency and maintenance due to unscientific design
ReplyDeletethe same buses and same design are using now.only difference is color :)
ReplyDeleteksrtc is loss only because of the poor management.
ReplyDeletedear vaisakh what about the purchase loss of RS 150000 FOR each buses
ReplyDeletepurchase loss i dont know.i am telling about whatt u said about design of the buses.i am not telling ganesh kumar was perfect.but some initiative was there from his side to make the ksrtc into good condition.just take the condition of ac buses plying to bangalore.just two year old buses.poor management can only mainitain buses like this
