Kottayam Bangalore Super(?) Fast

This is a sad story of a poor KSRTC Bus. The bus belongs to Kottayam depot and running as a special service to Bangalore. KSRTC announced (Actually they didn't do that) 3 special buses to Bangalore via Mysore on the occasion of Dussehra festival.

All the three buses are Super (Duper) Fast buses, one each from Kottayam, Thrissur and Ernakulam. Bus from Thrissur and Ernakulam is running via Kozhikkode, Bathery, Mysore and the bus from Kottayam is taking the Kozhikkode, Mananthavadi, Kutta, Mysore route.

RNK 448, Of Kottayam @ Satellite bus station, Bangalore.
This is a Dussehra special service which runs via
Thrissur, Kozhikkode, Mananthavadi, Kutta, Mysore.

Now comes, the very interesting facts regarding these buses. These buses are new buses constructed by Regional Workshops in Kozhikkode and Edappal. As, the buses are brand new, they hardly take the maximum speed of 50-55kmph. The speed governors are the villain here. Some crew of these bus's told KSRTCBlog that, they find it's very difficult to drive the bus, especially in the Ghat regions. "We started from Kottayam by 3.00 Pm and reached Bangalore by 12.00 Pm, the next day", One driver told to KSRTC Blog.

These buses are almost empty during the weekdays and in weekends too. I still wonder, why KSRTC has taken such type of decision to run these buses in this route. If they are not getting the permit to run buses via Salem or Bathery, it's better not to run via Mananthavadi and waste the diesel.

At present, KSRTC is running buses to Bangalore via 4 different routes.

1) Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Salem, Hosur
2) Thrissur, Perinthalmanna, Vazhikkadavu, Gundalpet, Mysore
3) Thrissur, Kozhikkode, Bathery, Gundalpet, Mysore
4) Thrissur, Kozhikkode, Mananthavadi, Kutta, Mysore

  1. I think these buses will only benefit people staying in wayanad who travel to Bangalore/Mysore. No one else will be preferring to travel in a super-fast up to KTM!
