Close The Door Please !!!

Close the door please ......... You can hear these words from the conductors of Thiru Kochi buses (Ernakulam City Buses) frequently. Kochites are used to private buses and they don't need to close the door's themselves. After getting the Thiru Kochi city buses from KSRTC, they feel some difficulties like closing the door themselves after getting out from the bus, buying tickets during peak timings because of the rush.

Here are some suggestions from a passenger Mr Reji M.S regarding the operation of Thiru Kochi buses.

I have got an opportunity to travel in THIRU KOCHI  bus from fortkochi to aluva on 23/10/10 at around 4pm. I find

* The driver and conductor who are a young men do their job very neatly.
* The bus is crowded and the conductor suffer to handle the tickets and door.
* Passengers are not familiar to open and close the door.
* Some of them are unaware about the self service door.
* Old age people and some ladies are reluctant to enter the bus because of this self service.
* Some persons act as door checker as a service/helping others.
* The conductor is always telling to close the door, because the people are not closing it.
* Passengers become uncomfort by seeing it. In private bus we cant see this seen.
* Handling over crowd is very difficult for KSRTC and unsafe.

I have the following suggestion

* The door's position may be changed in to the front end and middle as in Bangalore city bus.
*The front door is handled by the driver and the back door is handled by the conductor (Or driver as well).
* Lady Passengers can enter from the front door and others can use the back door.
* Introduce sufficint buses or to allow moderate passengers.

Wide and driver operated doors will enable the easy boarding and disembarking of passengers.

  3. ThiruKochi is an ordinary city services like private buses in KOCHI.I pointed out the problem is opening and closing the door in each stop with in the intervell of seconds without a door checker on peak time is very difficult and it takes more time to reach the destination compare to private buses.
