Karnataka RTC To Operate Volvo Buses To Thrissur - Will It Affect Our Globus Buses?

Exploiting the popularity of its premium Airavat (Volvo) services on long routes, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) (Indias Most Preferred Inter-City carrier)  is planning to add another 90 brand new Volvo and Mercedes Benz buses to its fleet of luxury buses on several routes from next month. So Karnataka RTC would be deploying 56 regular Volvo buses to introduce 27 new schedules including one to Thrissur from Bangalore and one in Kannur - Kollur route.

These bus would definitely affect the collection of our Two TATA Globus and one Super Deluxe Air bus which is running from Thrissur. The main reasons for this is that the fare difference between the AC bus and Volvo Bus. Volvo fare from Thrissur to Bangalore is 480, while the Globus buses charge Rs-437. The difference is just 43 Rupees. So obviously the passengers will prefer Volvo buses instead of Going by a simple AC bus. (No Need to carry Umbrellas in Volvo Buses, It will not pour).

The next benefits which passengers are going to get by Karnataka RTC is a Blanket, One bottle of Mineral Water and Television. Our AC buses don't have anything which i specified above.

Karnataka RTC has also announced that they are going to introduce 20 Multi-Axle Volvo buses in long routes. They will deploy the multi-axle Volvo buses on its most popular routes – between Bangalore and Mumbai, Shirdi, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune; Mangalore and Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad and Mysore and Chennai and Mumbai. Multi-axle buses promise to offer more comfort than the regular buses.

At Present Kerala RTC is operating "One" Volvo bus service to Bangalore from Thiruvananthapuram while Karnataka RTC is operating Two Volvo buses from Bangalore to Thiruvananthapuram (One Via Salem, One Via Mysore), One Volvo To Palakkad, Two Volvo Buses to Ernakulam (Some times they put one special Volvo bus on weekends too), One Volvo to Kasargod, One Volvo was running to Kottayam, But nowadays its stopped i guess.

It is the right time for Kerala RTC to concentrate on the Interstate permits and buses. KSRTC is still running Super Fast buses to Bangalore, while Karanataka RTC is running Volvo Buses To Kerala. Please remember that there are only few Kannadigas which are using the buses to Kerala. All the premium services running to Kerala are using by Keralaites only. (Mostly IT Professionals). They will not travel in Super Fast buses. Kerala RTC is nothing as compared to Karanataka RTC, But at least try to keep the level of Premium Services in all the Bangalore bound buses. Its a request.

Readers please share your opinions regarding this topic.

  4. I am very sorry for the trouble you are taking to send the message. But the fact that neither the employees nor the management is not threatened by such buses, as for them what ever you do they get salary. Only poor passengers and good people like you are putting your heart to improve KSRTC which is reaching the ear of deaf people. As mentioned how Karnataka is getting permit and which permit they will be using to run this bus. Also what KSRTC management thinking of kottarakkara superfast and for whome they are serving this bus? After the accident still they could not replace a better bus? Also it is sad that a huge corporation is running for the sake of employees and retired employees rather than for the benefit of passenger.

  6. KSRTC MD reports that it will cost crores to start a new service. But can we start weekend buses to & from different parts of south india. Most of our bothers & sisters are working there and facing very much difficulty to visit home.Buses can start by 7 pm on fridays, saturdays and sundays and reach destination by 6AM the next day. Some routes are given below:
Kottayam to bangalore(ladies only) think about students-nursing/pharma/IT
    ernakulam to bangalore(ladies only)
    Pathanamthitta to bangalore(ladies only)
    kollam to bangalore
    Ernakulam to bangalore
    Kozhikode to bangalore
    kottayam to bangalore(via kumily-salem)
    ponkunnam to bangalore(via kumily-salem)
    Pathanamthitta to bangalore(via tvla-alleppy-ernakulam)
    Pathanamthitta to bangalore(via kottayam)
    Pathanamthitta to mangalore(via kottayam)
    Kottarakkara to bangalore(via kumily)
Kottayam to chennai(via kumily - madurai)
now there are no chennai buses direct to kottayam
    Trivandrum to coimbatore(via kottayam)
    changanassery to coimbatore

There is very low job oppurtunity in kerala. Atleast kerala ministers should help the kerala youth by giving them the best transport facilities.

  7. can we start buses on festival seasons and weekends by the following way:Each station master should announce reservation to Bangalore,Mangalore,Coimbatore,Madurai,Chennai, trivandrum to kasargod, kottarakara to kasargod, pathanamthitta to kasargod etc. When reservation continues in each station a bus should start from one bus stand and collect passengers from that station and nearby station. Station masters in a circle(for eg:Kottayam-changanassery-pathanamthitta-Thiruvalla-Pala)have to co-ordinate and Communicate through mobile phones. For eg: if a Super deluxe air bus(via MC road) start from trivandrum it can collect the reservation passengers upto Chengannur within a 2 hour gap. The waiting passengers can utilise their precious time for toiletting/shopping/go to ATM's etc till the bus come. Long route Passengers will wait a 1 or 2 hour if they got seat reservations. This will avoid unnecessary rush while a bus come to bus stand and will ensure housefull passenger for each long route bus. The only thing KSRTC should do is to arrange sufficient AIR BUSES and good station masters with good attitude.Only KSRTC HAVE GOT A GOOD NETWORK IN KERALA AND THEY ONLY CAN DO THIS.....

PLS KEEP SPARE BUSES AND TRY THIS ATLEAST ON FESTIVAL SEASONS..........

  8. ya...its good for the people not for ksrtc...atleast we get the service for what we way in A/C buses.......As far i am concerned Karnataka State Road Transport Coperation have good service record....Rather than Ksrtc, Ksrtc launched super express service ernakulam-coimbatore , the bus is free during the normal days but got collection and packed up on saturday and sunday and official holidays...better prefer for a super fast service..
