Cochin Is Celebrating Bus Day Today

Do you hate Cochin traffic as much as most of us do?

If so, Cochites are celebrating the "Bus Day" today. The ‘Bus Day’ organized in Kochi today got a warm response from the travellers. The ‘Bus Day’ was inaugurated today by the Transport Minister Jose Thettayil.

The idea is to take the Bus on that day (if you aren’t already taking the company bus or any other bus) and see the difference it will make to traffic congestion and air quality. Not just today, feel free to opt it for everyday commute if the experience is good.

"I do commute by office cab to workplace on weekdays and I do enjoy the peace of mind since I don’t need to drive through the traffic! We would have had enough of work to our brains at office and let us commute peacefully through such public transport modes. This is our chance to bring in a change factor and let us make the best use of it. Help each other for better commute tomorrow and let us be the reason to decongest roads of Cochin" Says an IT Professional Mr. Subhash to KSRTCBlog.

So the next time you wish to travel around Cochin, you might want to take the bus since its cheaper, safer and less hassle free unlike our auto rikshaw.

All said and done, you might be reading this and dismissing it as yet another passing fad or idealistic initiative. And you may well be right. Public transport may not be the only answer, and needs to be complemented with better infrastructure, better traffic management, and wider metro coverage. But then, take a minute to think of all the pain that the traffic situation gives us today. Give this initiative a chance. Share this post with colleagues and friends. As their slogan says, "Take the bus Aliya!"
