Onam Special Traffic Block Continues At Walayar Check-Post

There was a traffic block at the Walayar check-post for the third day on Friday due to alleged delay in clearing goods vehicles. Passenger traffic on the National Highway between Palakkad and Coimbatore was affected, as goods vehicles were parked in the ‘green channel.’

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) services badly affected because of the heavy traffic block and the blockade of the ‘green channel,’ which allows free flow of passenger vehicles between Palakkad and Coimbatore. An ambulance taking a patient to Coimbatore was held up for nearly two hours, sources said.

Some passengers of Thiruvananthapuram Bangalore Volvo bus informed me at 6 Am today that, they did not cross the Kerala border. All the buses which is coming and going from Bangalore and Coimbathore are badly affected because of this.

Goods vehicles parked in long queues have been waiting for clearance at the Walayar check-post for the last two days.

  1. such a big traffic?? i dont think so!!!! the problem is with the drivers, no one is ready to wait and proceed in their given lane, every one is very busy & keen in breaking the rules. this will mainly happen with highly educated buggers. and our police people are jokers, ultimately every one suffers. dont know why our people are not having somuch of patience to wait. if vehicle pass one by one there wont be traffic, if any car or small vehicle comes behind a bus they want to overtake bus at any cost even the same thing they do in the signals also. the respective police people have to punish the people who ever break the rules, like cancelling their DL for 2months or 3 month then they will learn the traffic sense. and more over that why this check post is in highway cant they take the small diversion from the main road??? the same thing i have seen several times near hosur. any way its everyones duty to fallow the traffic rules.
    cheers
