The premium buses aimed at increasing the revenue of the KSRTC have proved to be doing just the opposite. At present the JnNURM buses are running in Thiruvananthapuram and Cochin. As we know that, these buses are not making much profit in Thiruvananthapuram, But this is not the case in Ernakulam. As a city which is dominated by private buses, KSRTC has to face a lot of troubles for introducing these buses for the city services.
Why these buses are running at Loss?
There are lot of factors which KSRTC should study regarding this. Many people do not know that they can travel in air-conditioned comfort up to 5 km, by paying the minimum fare of Rs.10. Clearly , we are a city that has a lot of people who are ready to pay the cost whatsoever in travelling in such buses. So park you expensive vehicles at home, and start traveling in these uber comfortable buses at very economical prices. That way , we are also finding a solution to the traffic issues, one that Cochin is very famous for.
And as for those people who are still questioning the routes the buses ply on , the RTC is looking into the matter , and hopefully will come up with smart decisions .
Here is a complaint which was written by Augustine Jose who is working in TELK, Ankamali. This complaint is forwarded to me by Mr. Anil Philip, Editor of Keralaitnews.com
Respected sir,
This is to bring to your notice one of the reasons the KSRTC is in a horrid state.
I happen to be a regular commuter between Kalamassery and Angamally.
I have at least 4 occasions to cite like the one as below.
Today, 30.04.2010, I was at the Kalamassery premier ground stop at 7.30am, very little traffic, and just 2 or 3 commuters. I signalled for a stop as usual but the driver and conductor of the JNURM low floor bus just stared at me and went on. Initially he just slowed at which I started to run, but he sped off. There was not any body to get down at the Premier junction stop as well.
JNURM service is much appreciated by many like me and whenever a chance is there we try to make use of it.
We believe, this is just not a service,a right of every citizen.
Most of the drivers are very friendly, but one or two like the above is enough to
tarnish the good image the rest have created. If it was a busy hour, there could be an excuse.
No reason lamenting that the JNURM service is at a loss.
I would like to put forth 2 suggestions as well.
1. The destination on the scroll board should be there on at all times. Now the whole route is displayed continuously, and we cannot make out which bus is approaching. By the time it reaches the stop we are confused as to which destination the bus is plying to. Kindly make arrangements to display the destination permanently, if possible in two rows, the upper one showing the destination, and the lower row, the route.
2. If not in the busy hour, even if the bus is not in a desgnated stop, the senior citizens, ladies and children should be allowed to embark, as well as alight the bus on request.
KSRTC Invites suggestions to bring about improvement in the existing service levels in a financially sustainable manner. Suggestions may send to the following mail address.

why not such buses ply in calicut..?
ReplyDeleteThere is one incident for me as well to tell. I usually travel from Vaitilla to Seminari Padi (Next stop to Paravur kavala). But now a days the conductor and driver tells me that there is no stop at that place for AC buses. I'm not sure why they are not stopping there up on request. I'm paying some Rs 38 to get down there. Why these people now telling they wont stop? Earlier I used to get down at that stop. Not sure where should I give my complaints.
