  2. Thanks for the quick action...appreciate it

  3. Arundev, the central workshop has already built three super express of leyland viking 12 m long chassis with 48 seating capacity(3*2) at a slanting of 10 degree. I came to know that more super expresses is to get ready in central workshop itself. They have got order to build 50 express buses , more will be on tata chassis like our RAC 1,2,3,4,5. But the difference will be that its seating will be 2*2 as in deluxe s

  5. Why KSRTC introducing more S.EXP buses. Are they that much profitable. They should've made more Venad's and introduced chain services. Due to lack of ordinary buses, there is lot of schedule cancellation in central tranvancore region

    ReplyDelete
  6. KSRTC is introducing more super expreses in route since they are profitable. according to officers, they found that The preference of people is superfasts, expresses and volvos than to deluxes and globuses. Thatsy they are introducing more Sup-exps in the roads. Also they are building more venad malabars bodies at present. You can see that in the same link above I have posted. For some days there was chassis shortage. now that is cleared

    ReplyDelete
  7. Dont they have any plans of replacing the existing deluxes and globus buses? Are they planning to use express buses instead of that.

  9. Hi Sankar.

For this year budget, our Finance Minister Issac had mentioned that KSRTC would be getting 1000more buses this year. Are all these chassis or ready to drive buses like Volvo's, Hispanos, Globus etc?

It would be great if KSRTC would get some Volvo's for long distance journeys.

    ReplyDelete
  10. @bilal, some deluxes will be replace3d with new super express. I thinnk there is a chance of KGD bangalore deluxe replacement. MD says that that bus is gaining only less than 12-15 Rs per KM

    ReplyDelete
  11. @rahul. the next 1000 buses are getting ready for ruling the roads. But they are not volvo or AC buses. just normal SF, FP, expresses, malabar, cut chassis and venads(60% or more are tatas). KSRTC officers told volvo is profitable but financial position of ksrtc is not in a stage to buy new volvos now

    ReplyDelete
  12. 60% of the buses from TATA that too of 1512 TC... great going KSRTC....

Regarding KGD BLR- its a useless service for KSRTC as only 50kms of the total journey is only in kerala...

KARTC is upgrading almost all of their long distance services to Volvos while we are downgrading to Super express.

Kerala RTC can do one thing for people like us who doesnt want to travel in private buses.. Allow KARTC to run buses to kerala at will. They will be there to solve our problems....

Please suggest the MD to buy 100% tata buses in the coming years.

  13. Regarding the announced (one year back) Perintalmanna-Koyilandi chain service with Malabar. Shankar, You have any clue on this?
KSRTC does not havefrequent service on this road and also all news dailies reported this number of times.

    ReplyDelete
  14. @bilal, Tata 1512 is better than 1510 but completely going to tatas are not good. Maintanance is much higher for tata as compared to leylands. Especially on highranges, hilly areas leylands are better.

    ReplyDelete
  15. @mithun, I dont have any info regarding Koilandi perinthalmanna service

  16. Hi Shankar,

could you please provide me the details of RAC2 and 3.Its from mysore to calicut or bangalore calicut?

  18. KeSRTC will never learn. They are taking Kerala Backward. Every year they r taking kerala back by 2 years.

  20. How KSRTC arrive on the figure of 1000.Very illogiacl way of working.

  21. Dear Shankar

Can you tell me in which depot these belongs
    RR 50 , RRE 575 , RAC 1 and TE 61

Is there any benefit for introducing more TATA buses . as per info leyland is more durable , economical and lasting .
some body told me our old ac buses are getting converted to venda and malabar - are they in the road or in garage

    ReplyDelete
  22. @anoop I know that its KKD depot interstate bus only and about route i m not sure. RAC3 is bangalore. But RAC2 i m also having confusion

    ReplyDelete
  23. @sajeev, regarding the services requirement of kuttiady-bathery, Please inform the chief office trivandrum. They only can do anything in that

    ReplyDelete
  24. @nibu varghese, RR 50 was TVM depot SFP at first. Then it was transfered to KNR as FP

RRE575 is a venad in CHRY

RAC1 is super express 12 m bus of KKD

    TE 61 PLR ord

    ReplyDelete
  25. We all know that tata is having less life than leyland. But KSRTC officials are going behind tata due the single reason of less price of chassis. They are not bothered about comfort or durability in leylands. Even in RN series there is not a single super fast of leyland and 3 SFP of tata are already on roads.

All of our old AC buses are going to be converted to venads/malabars and ordinaries. RT 905 and RT 906 are in NTA(ordinary) and EKM(venad) depots. RT 961 is being converted to ordinary in central workshop. one of the ac is also being converted to ordinary in MVKA workshop. They told that all AC buses have the permit for five years only to run as AC and then it should be converted

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks Sankar for the reply.

What KSRTC should urgently do is to replace all the old KSRTC buses in the TS,TE,TP series with the cut chassis or Venad buses. They are dying at a very rapid pace. Approximately, how many buses do we have from the above series presently running?

The TATA chassis vehicles can be used for services on flat surfaces like the routes from TVM to KGD. On high ranges, they can use AL buses.

  27. hai sankar i am kiran i heard a news ksrtc starts new chain service from PAla - Kottayam,(Pala-ayarkunnam- manarcadu- Ktm)in the new bypass road.10 new servces. is it true.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hi sankar,
What advantage our Ksrtc had found in Tata's over Leyland. Why they prefer Tata than AL now? Or our Ksrtc is going to get any financial profit in this purchase? Do you have any idea regarding this? But in long term point of view (life of Tata buses) this is not at all a good decision

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi sankar,
When these 1000 buses are going to roll out on roads? Are they going to introduce it one bye one (silently replacing the old ones with the new)or planning for a grand introduction on to the roads with new routes?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hi sankar,
it was heard a few months back regarding the introduction of chain service in Changanassery-Mallappally-Ranni route, and the news came in newspapers too. I came to know that this proposal got sanction from the zonal office also. But now there is no progress in the further steps.Did ksrtc dropped the plan? could you please give updates regarding this

    ReplyDelete
  31. So the govt doesnt have money to buy volvos.. agreed.. why cant they atleast replace the deluxe buses with new ones????

    ReplyDelete
  32. @rahul, KSRTC is doing the same as you suggested. Thatsy no new services are heard even though many new buses are introduced. We have around 200 TN buses, 900+ TS, 950+TP and 140 TE buses at present. In the upcoming 1000 buses, many will be cut chassis, venad/malabars

    ReplyDelete
  33. @kiran, I too heard of starting chain service pala-manarkad-kttayam. But not soon it will happen as number of buses are insufficient

    ReplyDelete
  34. @joji . as i mentioned before, we all and the officials are well known that life of tata buses are less than leyland and more maintanance is required for tatas. But the oficials are going behind the less price of tata chassis. Thats y tata buses are more on roads now. They are not bothered about the performance of comfort of the bses to public

    ReplyDelete
  35. They are not going to introduce all buses at once. It is a gradual introduction only. around 5-10 buses in each set

    ReplyDelete
  36. @bilal, according to the information i got, the people are not interested to travel in deluxe buses. They prefer Volvo or super expresses/SFP only. Most of our deluxes are running at loss. So ksrtc is introducing 50 Super express buses in a short period. I think they will be used in place of deluxes. Most of the 50 expresses are 2*2 seating.

  42. Thanks Sankar
Nice to see the picture of new express which u uploaded ..
do u think now days KSRTC having hidden agenda to promot some depots

While i was driving from TVM to Pala, I saw CHRY depot is closed for renovation .. as per my info , there no new service from CHRY , PNKM, KTM , PDM and MLTM ... these depots run with old service and manily ordinary service and even old buses
    Please correct if am wrong

    ReplyDelete
  43. Valid point Nibu.. Kottayam is one depot that has been consistently ignored by the KSRTC authorities. KTM can be called as the head quarters of central travancore. 10 years before KTM depot had around 90-95 sevices. If you take the numbers now, it will still be the same.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Depots like Pathanamthitta, Pandalam are always mistreated by the authorities. Only when Mathew T Thomas was the minister, Pathanamthitta got new chain services and schedules.

  49. @ambarish, which route fare stages u need??

    ReplyDelete
  50. @nibu and bilal, the main thing behind the non development of ksrtc Kottayam is private bus lobby as we all know. Unless the political situation changes we cant do anything there even if LDF or UDF or anybody else rule, the officials mind should change

    ReplyDelete
  51. @nibu.. The real fact is that, the depots which you said has not only new services but they are all trying hard to retain its current services.. all because of shortage of buses... dont know where all the new buses are going...When sabarinala season comes there will be heavy shortage of buses that leads to cancelling of the existing schedules..

    ReplyDelete
  52. hey sankar. is there any plan for the KSRTC to introduce non ac low floor buses in tvm.IF i am not wrong please do see the non ac low floor bus parked next to the RNC 36 se..(FROM THE LINK YOU PROVIDED)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Dear Josef and Shankar

Its beacuse of Step mother treatment of KSRTC to some depots

When see the service between KTM and TVM . Most of the buses are from TVLA CGNR CDLM And KMR

In case of New buses allocation - TVLA , CLT, ALPY, KLYM , CDLM ATL get new buses on regular basis
for the new services TVLA get upper hand then CLT, PTA
Its what i feel .. I not sure about northern region
Any way its not healthy practice for KSRTC .. There should a minimum set standards for allocation and scheduling

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hi Nibu,

KSRTC is not at all giving any new buses to Northern side.

    Especially Malappuram

You can't find that much buses in KSRTC stations in Malappuram district. Here all the bus routes are occupied by Private Operators.

From Malappuram ,Politicains also not interested in KSRTC Buses..They only prefer Private bus ,since they are getting bribe from owners

This year also chairman appreciated the staff & officials of CHENGANNUR Depot. for the excellence of service & record breaking collection. The collection shoots up from Rs.19, 88124/-(out of 368 trips, 2008-09) to Rs.32, 04070/-(out of 508 trips2009-10).Also appreciated employees for accident/complaint free service...
Though this is a professional approach from authority/ management, it seems to be a bang on for years...
If their appreciation is sincere why the authority can’t reward with new interstate/premium class services from CHENGANNUR?

Why new buses allotted withdrawn by end of season?

Why the don’t the staff offered with chance to extend their services to pilgrims upto interstate cities like Bangalore/Mysore/Coimbatore/Mangalore etc. where majority pilgrims come from?(As to compete with railway).
    Answer is simple…
    No political/ministerial back up.
Until /unless all the appreciation is seems to be farce!!!!!

  60. hai sankar,
post no.53 is a real factor...vkm also neglected from authorities....now getting old buses from ktm and ekm depots...now new services, at least restart old services lime palakd, chittur, tvm sf, and only one interstate....even if ldf or udf in the ministery no chance of getting a bright future for vaikom depot.....

    ReplyDelete
  61. @ajayan, u said that politicians are getting bribes and developing many private buses there. but the more fact is that the politicians are the owners of the buses

    ReplyDelete
  62. @kiranmlpa, no idea which is the route of sup express of PTA

    ReplyDelete
  63. @Zachby94@gmail.com new interstate buses they are saying the reason that the permit issue is a problem and running more in tamilnad at low cost is not fair for ksrtc. But more new buses are got to CGNR . RRe230 SF alloted from KTM depot to CGNR. RNK64, 65 CGNR FP, RNM73 CGNR FP, also some venads alloted

    ReplyDelete
  64. new buses are withdrawn as they are temporary allotment for pampa special service.

    ReplyDelete
  65. @josef , the non ac low floor is ready for tvm also. but in this allotment there is only one bus. JNT31. now most of the JNnurm are alloted to EKM as there is more gain for ksrtc than in tvm

  66. @alex, from kottayam to perinthalmanna 0845 super fast. 1245 malappuram sfp 0045 perinthalmanna SF. there ar some more buses also but I m not having its time. I will collect later

Hi Sankar!Buses re allocation is not at all useful! When the bus is not suit/new buses alloted/involved in major accidents old bus re assignes to another depot..
The positive step is that hw many new services start/Hw many services reschedule as per peoples convenience/hw much planning conduct according to infrastructural development(new roads/industry/colleges/hospitals/festivals etc.)....
Chengannur is a place where thousands of peoples depend on rail service to interstate cities like Banglore/Mysore/Madras/Manglore/Vellore .... per day...
Why KSRTC cant derive good share of this revenue while hundreds of people running short of availability of ticket in trains?
So long as the CHENGANNUR is declared as gateway to SABARIMALA piligrims number will likely to shoot up in coming years...mainly from T.Nadu/Karnataka/A.P.States
Could you reffer this point before authorities?

  88. Hi Sankar,

Is there any plan to start THRISSUR - KOZHIKODE Chain service?

There are many long route SF running between TCR-KKD but because of the fare stage issues, many people are not able to use the buses effectively.

Do you know the fare stages in this routes are less. The fare stages of LSFP and SF are allowed only in the Major towns only and many of the long route buses are LSFP and SF.

We gave so many petitions to KSRTC for reconsidering the fare stages.Atleast common fare stage for FP,LSFP and SFP.

Is there any scope for CHENGANNUR-QUILON chain service?Lot of PVt&Train service there?
Instead Extend proposed PTA-Angamoozhi service to /hilly areas of PTA&QLN district will get railway access. So long as the PTA & CGNR depot of KSRTC neglected with adequate Interstate Busesto BGLR?MSR/....

  90. @zachby94
The scope is there for CGNR-KLM service. The proposed route CGNR-Charumoodu-Bharanikavu-Kundara-KLM is ruled by PVT buses and this chain will be a boon to the passengers in this route.
PTA-Angamoozhi is under consideration and what we understand from authorities is that they have already submitted the report to chief office and waiting for the approval to start the service.

  91. Sankar,
In which year Edapal started body building? To my knowledge it was in 1996-97.

  100. I think KSRTC should go for newer bus chassis from TATA stable, like 1618, 1623 etc which have more power 235HP. TATA is the worlds second biggest manufactures of heavy buses in the WORLD. Even BEST and BMT have started using more TATA buses. Delhi already have majority of TATA buses.TATA buses have improved their market share and I hope KSRTC also introduce more TATA buses, and make more profit, give more comfortable journey to the passengers, and less strain to the drivers. Can you give percntage wise purchase of TATA and ASOK LEYLAD buses planned by KSRTC?

  102. Comment 100 is totally absurd!!!!!!!!!
TATA may have role in commercial automotive sector (In third world)but nothing in world Bus Industry...
No. of production is not at all a criteria but performance...
Poor indians forced to travel in TATA bus till they have another option!!!!

TATA buses are doing good no only in third world, but also in developed countries. We Indians should be proud of TATA motors. KSRTC may be buying low cost models, but they have a big range of buses, and competing with VOLVO and BENZ. We Indians always feel that MADE IN INDIA products have low quality.

  104. thanks to Mr-Eyes for the news paper news..

  105. We should be proud only to those deserve it..
TATA used in many countries as a means of cheap public transport..Which area TATA can compete with BENZ&VOLVO!!!!!There are other brand in world also..MAC,MAN,VW,GMC......
When one cross national frontier then realise it..
Till then like frogs in pond!!!!!!!
If we are true patriotic..we should allow best to come & perform in our country..

  106. We are forgetting that we are a developing country with very bad roads, let us have better wider roads and then TATA will also put better buses i am sure. Do you remember what happend to DCM TOYOTA, ISUZU HINDUSTAN etc. We have a good majority of poor population, we should not forget it. They also have to survive.

  108. Hi Sankar,

I am new to this forum and found interesting and appreciate the people here trying to improve KeSRTC, i travel regularly to various parts of Kerala and love food, hospitality and the locations. I have found private bus lobby is very strong and charge exorbitant prices and am one of many people who is not interested in travelling with private buses and want to travel with either KeSRTC or KaSRTC. Recently KaSRTC cancelled two services to TVM from BLR as they could not get permits to start new services and these permits are used to start MYS-TVM and MYS-EKM services. If KeSRTC is lack of drivers and buses let them provide the permits to KaSRTC who have told many times that they don't have permits to start new services to Kerala. Take for instance between TN and KA and KA and MH where respective transport corporations can start any services very quickly

  109. I dont understand y u ppl r degrading TATA for every products... just come n visit the GULF region and see TATA's market share here right from XENON to NOVUS Trailer. Please remember these facts. The OICA ranked it as the 18th largest automaker, based on figures for 2009. and the second largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in the world. The company is the world’s fourth largest truck manufacturer, and the world’s second largest bus manufacturer.
When we speak abt bus/truck, TATA has now top end procucts competing with VOLVO/MB/MAN/DAF/IVECO/HINO/HYUNDAI. Daewoo trucks and Hispano coaches have a very good market value worldwide, and even ACGL built FE LHD TATA buses are selling high in gulf.

  110. Hi Sankar.

Today when I was travelling towards Changanassery from Kottayam, I encountered the new Super Express bus RNC/RNM =>(not sure think its RNC) 34 going towards Kottayam side. It looks really nice, which depot does this belong to and which route does it ply on?

    Regards,
    Rahul R

  111. What Ranjith Raghunath has pointed out is very true. We Indians do not appreciate when it is MADE IN INDIA. TATA buses are really good and competing with world class buses. If KSRTC is not maintaning its buses it is their fault. Dont worry TATA motors there are INDIANS who are proud of your products and proud to be an Indian

    ReplyDelete
  112. Why Indians be proud of TATA?Are the natioal product?Coz of buying Jaguar/L.Rover?
For poor Indians TATA may be the luxury cart..
It has to travel miles to reach upto International standard..
Still they deny Air bag& security devices!!!TATA producing or buying engines from other world class companies?NANO itself was a good flop!!
    Similar was case before 1990's..Ambassador..
Where's it now!!!!!!!!!Hw they cheated common Indians!!!!

  113. According to my opinion, The TATA chassis which our Kerala RTC is buying is not at all good. They are buying 1510 and 1512. These buses especially 1510 is very bad and not recommend for long distance trips. Other than RRM 95 (KTR-BGLR SF) there is no other TATA buses running as interstate. Because KSRTC itself know that people ll not prefer those buses, if they are putting it for that.

Karnataka RTC and BMTC are buying the newer versions of TATA like 1612, 1618 etc... These buses are good, but not excellent. Some of the problems which i discovered with BMTC's 1618C is

    1) Slight Vibration at the rear portion.
    2) Big sounds while breaking. (Heard that for almost all the buses)
    3) Speed is ok, but not good beyond 65.

Something which i have noticed with TM Non AC.
    1) Speed is good with less vibration.
    2) Sound while breaking is still there for this.
    3) AC TM Buses are number one worst,as comparing with Volvo. But i donno how we can compare TM Ac buses with a Volvo.

    Because Volvo is Volvo.

You seem missing from the forum but I could still try. Is there any way the TVM City routes time-table of KSRTC can be gotten ? its very disappointing to wait long hours for the buses. Putting this information on the Net could be an important 1st step in encouraging Public Transport.

  120. Hello Shankar
I want to travel in TVM-BNGLR Garuda from EKM to BNGLR. But when I went for online booking, only booking from TVM is allowed with Rs. 820 something per head. But in return booking is allowed to EKM with Rs.600 something per head. Can I book to BGLR from EKM? I heard that the bus stops at Vytila Jn only. What is the time?
    Please advice....
