No complaint, only a suggestion

This is not a complaint. this is some thing I think, that will help to increase revenue to KSRTC from malabar section, begining from Thrissur to Northern parts of kerala.(ie towards Calicut, kannur and Wayanad regions.)

My name is Abhilash and my native place is in Pazhanji near to kunnamkulam in Thrissur district. Now i work in Regional Agricultural Research Station, Ambalavayal, Wayanadu. As usual I need to travel from kunnamkulam to calicut and then I pick another bus from calicut to reach sultahn bathery. I travel through this route two or three times a month.

The thing I want to point out is the running time of your bus from thrissur to calicut and from calicut to Sulthan Bathery.

First of all we start from thrissur - calicut route. The bus you named Fast Passenger must be renamed as Slow Passenger. The running time of these Fast passenger buses between Thrissur to Calicut is 3 hours and 45 minute(I got this time from time display board inside the bus). The ordinary Limited stop private buses takes only 3 hours and 10 minute to run between Thrissur and Calicut. When a person travaling in an KSRTC FP can see a number of Private buses overtaking them. Only the Super Fast and Express buses takes 3 hours and 10 minute to cover this distance between Thrissur and Kozhikode. Every one are aware that FP buses fare is greater than that of ordinary bus. But if these buses are slower than ordinary buses then what is the use of these Fast Passenger buses that wastes our time and money.

I think the officials have noticed that all the private buses are crowded with passengers while KSRTC FP runs only with an average of 20 to 30 passengers(in day time). But the super fast and express service have an average of 40 to 50 passengers.

Majority of passengers including me opts a fast journy while covering long distance. Many of the regular passengers to calicut side prefers private buses because they can reach the target points rapidly. So u must take action to reduce the running time between Thrissur and calicut. This will defenitly increase the revenue collection from these routs.

This is the same thing that happens in Calicut to Sulthan Batery route. Private buses take 2 and half hours to cover the distance while that for KSRTC TT, LSO and LS are 3 to 3.15 hours. In these route also people are preferring private buses.

If these situations are prevailing more and more passengers will avoid the corporation buses and wait for private buses. If u are conscious to increase the collection of corporation buses u must definitely reduce the running time of the above mentioned buses and save KSRTC

please value our time and money.

  1. I totally agrea with your time concern as once i also felt the same by travelleing in Vazhikadavu-Pathanmtitta FP which almost started on 9.20am and reached thiruvalla by 8pm.

Just a suggestion instead of Thrissur-Calicut -Sultan bethary. you can try Thrissur-Perintelmanna-Sultanbethary Sevice i think it will not take this much time and they have less stops like FP. I never travelled till sulthan bethary on this only till nadukani, but i had seen it as very much keeping time and good staff

  2. hi,
The "Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation" (KSRTC) was set up in the year 1961 with 1792 buses(Its fleet was also augmented with 800 Buses Nationalized from private Contract carriage operators during the Emergency period 1975-77) it and is wholly owned by the Government of Karnataka, India. The Government of India is also a shareholder in this corporation. KSRTC is also known for its Introduction of Volvo B7RLE Low body City buses. These buses are generally airconditioned, with improved tyre suspensions, a far cry from the other old members of fleet.

  3. It is the real fact you mentioned regarding KKD-TSR route, but i am not sure about kkd-bathery as i was a regular traveller 2-3 years back to MDY from KKD where i feel the buses were ontime.

As mentioned over, you can pick the Thrissur-SBY buses, but those buses running via Shornur. You have one more option, SBY-Guruvayur service via PMNA, MJI in the ealry morning from Guruvayur. It is a popular service.

KKD-TSR situation is not going to change unless and until ksrtc starting frequent TT'S or show positive mentality by the management.

  4. KKD-TSR route, you can see PVT bullshits overtaking our superfasts also...
the running time of superfasts is 3 hours and FP is 3h 15 minutes...( i have reached TSR from KKD in 2h 20 mins also...)

but Private buses usually takes less than 3 hours... i have few friends @ TSR , they travel by PVT only because they can reach faster

  5. It is almost the same with KSRTC limited stop buses and Fast Passenger buses in Alappuzha - Changanassery. Limited stop KSRTC buses will reach faster that FP. Travelling by Fast Passenger Bus is always waist of time and money. Please note that there is no KSRTC bus station in between Thrissur & Calicut. Only the Edapal station is there. No bus will enter that station as there is no KSRTC Canteen. Thanks for that. We can save 20 minutes in this account. :)

  6. now days KSRTC fast passengers are very slow. We can see Private limited Stops are easly overtake these fast passengers. Super Fastes are the best choice for passengers. But now days they also slow. That blody Speed Govourners are there. And no AIR HORN. What that poor drivers can do??

  7. KSRTC must start reservatons for buses running more tha 100KMS across all stations throughout kerala. This will help long route passengers to confirm the seats. Also KSRTC have to allot SPARE buses to all stations so that station master can schedule them according to the reservations. And when will KSRTC stop stuffing people in super fast buses and make them stand still upto 3 or 4 continuous hours...I suffered stand still from thrissur to kottayam(4 and a half hours) on weekends.
