Kerala State Road Transport Corporation to introduce 5 more low floor Non AC buses in Cochin. These buses are already came in the Central Workshop, Pappanamkode. The body of these buses are built by Veera and Prakash. Prakash body and seating arrangements looks good as compared to Veera.
It seems to be that KSRTC got enough confidence by running buses in the city which came under the JnNURM project. Introduction of City buses and more JnNURM Low Floor Buses by KSRTC will give a tough fight to the private red killers in the city.
Presently there are around 600 Private buses in the city. Kochites are almost fed up with their rash driving and rude behavior. Now Kochites are eagerly waiting for KSRTC to start its city service.
The once dormant state-owned transport company, which has been facing several ups and downs, including heavy financial liabilities, appears to be emboldened by the tremendous support it had received from the Kochiites to the recently introduced AC lowfloor and non-ac semi-low floor buses.
Out of this 5 new buses, two buses will ply on the Mattanchery Perumbavoor route while the other two buses will conduct the services between Aroor and Kakkanad (Via Edakkochi). The route for the fifth bus will be finalised soon.
KSRTC had applied for the new permits for these buses, As soon as the permit got sanctioned, these buses can start its services. KSRTC is planning to introduce this buses by the middle of July.
Already, 13 lowfloor AC Volvo buses and nine semilowfloor Leyland buses are plying on various routes in the city. With the introduction of five more buses, the number of JNNURM buses in Kochi will increase to 27. The number of buses, including AC lowfloor, nonAC semilowfloor, and minibuses that were sanctioned under the JNNURM scheme for Kochi is 200.
Good to hear about this decision. But Non AC Buses charging amount nearly equavalent fare of Superfasts, is not accepted. The people of Kochi needs more Volvo buses, for better travel than Leyland non AC.
ReplyDeleteKSRTC needs to introduce city buses in kochi at the earliest. There is no real reason why they are hesitating to launch city services. To the best of my knowledge, case pending in high court pertains to entry of buses coming from Goshri islands and not to other permits KSRTC are retaining.
ReplyDeleteFurther, KSRTC nees to rethink the fare structure of Semi low floor, non AC buses. There is no justification for charging almost twice the fare for these buses, when they are offering hardly anything extra in comparison to ordinay buses. The earlier they correct this, the better.
6 out of 9 non ac buses are on kattapuram now... 2 broken wind shield and 4 engine complaint
ReplyDeleteLeyland low floor non ac buses are not good.especially rear engine type.In Trivandrum I have seen the old rear engine low floor leyland bus in East fort - Kovalam route. They are famous for their breakdowns
ReplyDeleteTata-Marcopolo non AC buses are doing good job in Bangalore BMTC.
ReplyDeleteWhy KSRTC is not buying TM buses?? For City service TATA is best.
A few of the volvo routes have been canceled.
ReplyDeleteFort Kochi – Info park
9 9:05 10:00 10:35
Island – Info Park
10 9:15 10:00
11 9:20 10:05 10:40
have been canceled!!!
Where are those buses now? And why don't they introduce more AC buses?? Cochin needs those.
The other buses still show that India is a third-world country. Pathetic in condition. Uncomfortable to ride.
KSRTC should see beyond just making profit.
Thats good decison taken by our transport dept, more low floor buses to kochi,my opinion is to pull out private buses and co-operate with KSRTC
