Swami Sharanam On KSRTC Tickets

Next time when you travel in a KSRTC bus, you might get the tickets by mentioning "Swami Sharanam", "Amme Narayana", "Praise The Lord" captions printed on it.

This type of incidents reported in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur and Kasargod districts last week. The passengers of a Venad bus from Kottayam to Munnar (RNC 197) got some tickets like this recently.

Some buses of KSRTC which is plying to Palani, Velankanni, Mookambika  and some other ordinary buses had the stickers of Hindu gods pasted on the windshield.

According to the rule, pasting stickers, flags or anything which is religious should not use on any public property including buses, trains and other public materials.

But in APSRTC, you can see almost all of the APSRTC buses will have the Thirupathi Venkitachalapathi's Picture or something related to that god on the windshield.

Coming to Karnataka RTC, They also have some buses which is running with God's Pictures and Writings on the Windshield. We can see a lot of BMTC buses which they have kept the religious pictures inside the bus near to the driver cabin.

An APSRTC Bus of this kind

Readers please post your comments regarding this issue? Do we need to take this as a big problem? Do you think that KSRTC should take some necessary actions against this type of cases?

  2. I dont think there is anything wrong with it. Our state is renowned for its secularism. I am a practicing catholic but it wouldnt hurt me one bit to get a ticket which has a picture of lord ayyapa.
    Cheers !

  3. I won't mind ... if that bothers you, you should see the private buses in Cochin. Apparently some buses are 'Allah's gift'.

It doesn't bother me at all. This is not America.

  4. i dont know what the use of all such things in a bus ticket.....after the journey nobody is going to keep these tickets..then ayyapan and all will reach to the dustbin... then it will become a cruel towards them and will cause negative effect as usual in kerala

  5. what i suggest is putting swamy saranam, praise the lord, in the ticket is not good. as the people through the ticket once they finish their travel. we should not ill treat religious matters like this. instead of that why cant they put some good slogans or thoughts to publics/passengers? like, fallow Q, respect Elder, Give seat/room for Ladies/Children/pregnant mother/etc, avoid foot board travel, as this is related to transport it is good to highlight related travel not the religious, thing some dont like to receive the ticket with Praise the lord what u do? can u give a new ticket to him? or can u exchange the Swamy saranam ticket to him?

  7. For KSRTC is there any thing new in this. During Sabarimala season you can see big idols of Swami Ayyappa on almost all depot. There will be a lamp and a pot for collecting the offerings. I always wondered what they do with the coins that devotees put in-front of those idols. Now a days the pot is disappeared. If you take the illegal acts of KSRTC it will be long list.
