  3. Hi Sankar i feel the engine power is too low. I think KSRTC should go for higher engine power like the TATA 1618 or TATA 1623 which have 235 hp. So the drivers will not feel fatigued driving these under powered Asok Leyland buses. I heard that many of the private operaters are using TATA buses insted of VOLVO, and both passengers and drivers are happy with them, they are also quite cheap.

  4. But KSRTC oru lelam (Auction) vilikkum. TATA or Leyland...will reply. They can only give the cheepest buses to KEsrtc. 5. Atleast it good to see its having Rear Air Suspension... Really speaking these buses are only good to do as city service where that much power / speed is not required. KSRTC has to think seriously about the long distace bus service... There should be AirSuspension and ABS for all long service buses... Please recruite more fresh Engineering graduates.... Give some opportunity to the students from SCT Eng. College.. In KaSRTC site there is an advertising to recruit fresh Engineering graduates... What about KSRTC..? There should be some Capable Engineers and Administrators to drive KSRTC.... I feel CC adanju theeraraya kure peru anennunu thonnanu KSRTC bharikkunnathu...

  6. What Shabeer told is very correct...why going for these under powered AL buses. TATA 1616 , 1623 & 1618 are more powered than any Leylands. Now BMTC (JNURM) & KaRTC (Meghadoot, Rajahamsa) is using those buses for their long routes and they are replacing all the existing AL with these buses as per the recommondation from the drivers and passengers.Yes what Kiran also told is very correct. KSRTC wants everything in cheaper.TATA knows it very well. See how only KSRTC got TATA 1510 (already stopped production by TATA) & 1512 and no other RTC's have such a model. Instead they have 1616, 1618 & 1623.Even many private operators are using now a days TATA Hispano, Marcopolo (High end) even in place of Volvo. I have told this before. TATA Hispano has got all the facilities and power equivalent to Volvo and they have Cummins engines (World's second best; 1st is BENZ)in that. But the price is 25 Lakhs less compared to Volvo. Thats why huge operators like Neeta, Sharma Transports, Raj National has got TATA Hispano now in place of Volvo's which operates in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Goa , Pune etc. If we get good product which we can buy, then why we need to accept what the bus manufactures give us. Its our money, we have every right to get valuable and good product for what we spend.

  14. sujith,i ve seen in one of the photographs of RNE 44 that the seating configuration is 3X2.Arent these buses supposed to have 2x2 configuration.

  15. THE PROBLEM WITH KSRTC BUSES IS THE SEAT DESIGN IN ALL BUSES EXCEPT AC AND DELUXE. IN ALL OTHER BUSES, THE SEAT LENGTH IS LESS MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR THE THIRD PASSENGER TO SIT COMFORTABLY IN THREE SEATER AND SAME FOR THE SECOND PASSENGER IN TWO SEATER. THE WIDTH OF THE BUS, I FEEL, IS LESS FOR KSRTC BUSES SINCE, IN KARNATAKA, THE SEATS HAVE MORE LENGTH. THEIR BUSES ARE ALSO OF 3 X 2 PATTERN. SECOND PROBLEM IS SEAT ANGLE, WHICH AS PER BLOG, THEY HAVE IMPROVED. GENERALLY, ALL SUPER FAST AND SUPER EXPRESS BUSES, SHOULD BE PROVIDED WITH THE AIR SUSPENSION AT THE REAR. PASSENGER COMFORT HAS TO BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION. RECENTLY, I TRAVELED IN THE EXPRESS BUS OF GUJARAT SRTC, WHERE THE SEATS ARE MORE COMFORTABLE THAN KSRTC. EVEN IN AC BUSES SEATS HAVE LESS LEG ROOM THAN DELUXE. GLOBUS BODY OF AC BUSES MAKE LOT OF NOISE.

ALSO, THE CONDUCTORS SHOULD SWITCH OFF THE TOP LIGHTS AT NIGHT AND KEEP ONLY THE NIGHT LAMP.

CRAMMING THE BUS WITH SEATS SHOULD BE AVOIDED. WHEN SRI. GANESH KUMAR WAS THE TRANSPORT MINISTER, SUPER EXPRESS BUSES WERE DISCONTINUED. I DON'T KNOW WHY THESE ARE REINTRODUCED, WHICH HAS THE SAME SEATING ARRANGEMENT AND TAKE THE SAME RUNNING TIME.

    Posted on: 17 Jun 2010

The following news speaks volumes of Ke SRTC's myopic vision and poor unprofessional planning.
New Express buses, which were denied fitness due to their long body are taken back to Edappal R/W to trim their length!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. What a pity..12.2m bus... Hope leyland company is listening...

  18. I think ASHOK LEYLAND should pay KSRTC Compensation or Penalty for creating the loss to its income. I hope KSRTC management learned a lesson by these 12.2m bus idea by Leyland. KSRTC should go for the new TATA buses. They are more powerful and comfortable.

    ReplyDelete
  19. ashok leyland has nothing to do with the bus..problem is with some idiotic fellows who designed the bus, with additional overhangs, ashley bus is exact 12m bus and it is not 114hp bus,the bus is powered with a 177hp engine, the information provided above is absolutely wrong,
