Sulthan Bathery, Pathanamthitta: Shortage of drivers in different depots of KSRTC affecting the regular bus services of the corporation. Around 120 bus schedules are cancelled every day causing a revenue loss of around Rs 12 lakh to the Corporation, which is struggling hard to come out of the financial crisis.
Presently, there exists around 2,686 vacancies of drivers in the Corporation. This include 925 fresh vacancies, 418 retirement vacancies and 331 Not Joining Duty (NJD) vacancies.
Though the vacancies were reported to the PSC, it still remains to be advised to the KSRTC.
In this context, according to sources, KSRTC chairman and managing director TP Senkumar has sought the permission of the PSC to engage drivers from the Employment Exchange if the PSC is not able to provide the list of drivers in the near future.
"In view of the shortage of drivers, the PSC should immediately furnish the advice list of 2,686 candidates for appointment as reserve drivers. In case of delay, the PSC should provide the address list of candidates in the existing rank-list so that they can be appointed as drivers on provisional basis. In the absence of both options, the PSC should give permission to the KSRTC for filling the vacancies from employment exchange,'' sources maintained.
Moreover, the PSC has not yet furnished the advice list of 1,830 mechanical staff in the Corporation.
The appointment of 30 additional depot engineers is also pending. KSRTC is all set to introduce around 1,000 new buses soon and there will be an increase of 50 schedules every month.
The delay in filling the vacancies will worsen the crisis and the Corporation will suffer a severe setback.

Hi Sujith
ReplyDeleteEven after the shortage of drivers or staff KSRTC thiruvalla is started removing M panel staffs. They are planning to remove all the M panel staff joined within last 2 years , I am writing this on the basis of news published in mathubhoomi last month and confirmed by one of the staff there in thriuvalla depot

Hi Anup, there are a lot of things happening in Thruvalla depot like this. Will tell u a recent information. Many people are trying to stop the Thiruvalla Bangalore schedule. For doing that, they are not giving the proper mechanical maintenance for those buses. The drivers and conductors of that buses are telling that this is the fault which is happening by the Depot Engineer (Who came recently).
ReplyDeleteIf the drivers reported the complaint, the mechanical section is not taking care about those seriously. As a result, the bus got break down for around 4-5 times within last two months. Yesterday when i was coming from Thiruvalla to Bangalore, the wires which connects the head lights got fire and the fuse also got burnt down, Passengers started making noise. The driver some how managed to reach the Chalakkudi bus station and replaced the wires and fuse, which delayed around 45 minutes. There was around 25 passengers to Bangalore at that time. I suddenly called to the Vigilance officer and gave the complaint. Suddenly after 10 minutes, one of the driver got a phone call from the Depot Engineer by asking the condition of the bus. The reason for catching fire is that, they have used the low quality (less gauge) wires.
This is not only the condition which is happening in Thiruvalla depot, its happening in each and every depot. The Depot Engineers are making money like anything. KSRTC should do something urgently regarding this type of issues.
No body can stop the service until &unless passengers wish it..otherwise nobody can help to sustain also...
ReplyDeleteThe issue is that how KSRTC people manage it...
Political patronage will not support any industry..Should have competitive edge...
Only Best will survive..Thats universal truth...
Hi Sujith
ReplyDeleteI think through this forum we should submit a complaint on this. I heard from kallada reservation person that apart from weekend they are getting less response on there semi sleeper and same with yathra as well, May be this reason they may be trying to stop this schedule with help of some officers there like pala service.

no matter how we try to propell ksrtc it will fail. 90% of the authorities would like to see KSRTC crawling. If the authorities has atleast 50% of the commitment that we have, KSRTC will be the number 1 operator for sure.
ReplyDeleteIt was a similar case with Pala Bangalore service. The depot mechanics used to put bad tyres for Bangalore, whereas they put good tyres for ordinary buses. In the first month itself bus never reaches Kozhikode without a flat tyre in between. Some social nuisances (as mentioned in newspaper) threw stones on the bus. Later when it was upgraded to an AC bus, they didnt do regular maintenance and the bus used to have AC failure many times. Quoting this they changed the bus instead of fixing the real cause. If this trend is repeated (cprrupt officials) many services will sun set in near future.
ReplyDeleteHi Sujith,
ReplyDeleteHow the purchases is done in KSRTC.? Is it local purchase or centralised purchase.? As we know that most of the officials or ministers have there own bus services...( Binamies ) how they put atleast 50% of commitment to KSRTC..?
I heard like most of the Attingal-Kazhakkoottam parallel service mini buses are owned by KSRTC / Police officials.. :(
and what about Saranya travels..? How Saranya is getting long route bus permits..? Most of the services are almost same time as KSRTC Services.? And these guys are famous for overspeeding and Gundayism.... This is happening in Inter District Services....
Then think about Interstate Services where those who have invested crores... definitely they will try to catch some currepted people like this....
There should be a proper maintance log for each bus... Is computerisation is done fully in KSRTC...?
I heard Pala-Bangalore AC Service has stopped and now the bus (RR202) is handed over to ernakulam depot which operates it as Ekm-Blgr AC bus through Mysore (Again).
