Driver On Leave - Affected KSRTC Service From Kottayam

Kottayam: I am a regular passenger of the bus Kottayam - Thiruvananthapuram - Chempakappara service which start from Kottayam by 5 Am. We all passengers were waiting to leave the bus, because that is the first service which is going towards Mallappally from Kottayam.

Time has gone and it becomes 5.15, 5.30 the bus did not start from the bus station. The driver has not yet come. We went and enquired in the counter regarding this issue. The answer they gave was much funny that the driver is on leave and we don't have any other driver to take that bus. It is so sad that a depot like Kottayam is doing such kind of carelessness.

By around 5.45 we went and gave the complaint to the station master on duty. But unfortunately, he got angry and was telling some blah blah to us.

Later on some people blocked some buses which came to Kottayam depot and did not allow them to leave the bus station. We have just created a scene there. This made them to send a driver for this service and it started from there by around 6, Late by one hour. If this is the condition of Kottayam depot, what will be the condition of other depots of KSRTC?

I hope the requested authorities will take necessary actions against the staffs who were on duty at that time.

  1. If they dont have enough drivers KSRTC should have drivers on daily wages. I think we have enough talented youngsters who can do the job.

  2. I had the same kind of experience some years back in Pathanamthitta depot.

It was a day of Pikunni Uthram, The Sabarimala temple will open only for that day. I Called up Pathanamthitta depot and enquired about the bus, they told me that as soon as the bus is fully packed, they will send that bus. I took the first bus @4.55 from Kozhencherry and reached Pathanamthitta by 5.15.

There was no bus to Pampa. I enquired in the office and they told me to wait there, i went to the place wer the pampa buses used to park, there were around 20 people who were waiting for a bus. Atlast by 5.45 an old pity TN series bus came with Pampa as destination board.

Time has gone, it becomes 6.00, 6.30, 7.00... By 7.30 we were around 45 passengers who are waiting to go to Pampa. There was no sign of starting the bus, we again went to the station masters office, they told us that, "Ivite driver illa, Pampaku pokan aarumilla" like that. We people got angry and made a scene there with him.

But still, no one was willing to do anything. By that time, Coimbatore Super fast came to the stand. People waiting for that bus rushed into it. At around 8, The coimbatore bus was about to leave the bus station, we people simply went near to that bus and sat infront of that bus. Security persons came and asked us to move, we didn't. At last evite ninno oru driver potiyum thatti vannu. he took the bus and we went to Pampa.

  3. these things happen due to carelessness of the authorities. when i was to board the palakkad-trivandrum ac bus similar thing happened. it came from tvm half hour late but the officials told me the bus was in time. and it waited at palakkad for another half hour (without switching off engine)for reasons known to them. the ac was chilling. we took two hours to reach trissur and about three another hours to reach ernakulam. despite knowing about the traffic blocks the driver didnt seem to be thinking of it. rt961 i think that old bus.
