Yeah, Kerala State Road Transport Corporation is going to start an operating center in Vazhikkadavu. Vazhikkadavu is a small town in Nilambur taluk of Malappuram district. It is located on the CNG (Calicut-Nilambur-Gudalur) road 20 km north-east of Nilambur town. Just after Vazhikkadavu town the ghat road (known as Nadukani Churam) starts through forests leading to Nadukani (20 km away) in Nilgiris district. The Kerala-Tamilnadu border is at about 10 km from Vazhikkadavu.
If KSRTC starts an operating center there, it may help a lot of passengers who are going to Gudallur, Gundalpet and Mysore and other parts of Kerala. At present this region is fully dominated by private buses except the buses to Gudalur. But because of the non-availability of enough buses, people are highly using the parallel services running by Interstate permit Jeeps. Journey in these Jeeps are highly dangerous and almost all the time they charge the double amount of a bus fare.
1) Left) A fully packed bus towards Gudalur @ Vazhikkadavu
2) Right) Malabar vs Malabar. Right one is the original one. Left one is just a fake thing. The private buses wants to confuse public for getting passengers? is it?
There are lot of long service buses which are coming to vazhikkadavu. Also from Vazhikkadavu, you will get KSRTC buses towards Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Thiruvalla, Kottarakkara, Thrissur, Manjeri, Perinthalmanna, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Sulthan Bathery, kalpetta etc..
So let us wait for getting an operating center and more buses to and from Vazhikkadavu. Readers please share your ideas and suggestions to make KSRTC a big success in Malabar regions.

ReplyDeleteGood move....Re start the CHENGANNUR-Vazhikadave LSFP service which is closed down due to un scientific timing schedule .....
i think that has been changed to tvla - vazhikadavu lsfp
ReplyDeleteGood move , but even nilambur depot is totally negelected . Depot somewhere outside the town like mallapally depot, We have to wait for ksrtc bus in town where private buses stops(ON MAIN ROAD) totally confused and people had to ply some private bus because no schedule details or contact person. But still Malabar had good response and most of the buses to Mysore even Karnata sariga is more than Kerala Ksrtc good response People wait for morning 10.30 KSRTC and its almost fully packed(RRK 522) and 6.00 pm Mysore
ReplyDeleteIf they allow booking option from Vazikadavu it will be very good, Currently there is boarding option for Gudalur which nilambur or vazhikadavu cannot utilse. Instead they give nilambur or vazhikadavu as well it will be very useful to people.

There should be a Diesel station in Vazhikadavu , the long route buses are finding it difficult as the nearest available one is at Perintelmanna and long route buses depend on this to reach till trissur . Most of the time i have seen driver running behind the station officeer at perintelmanna to get the deisel as there quota is from trissur , not sure how there allotment system is .
