KSRTC Accident History May - Accidents By KSRTC Buses

May 2010 was not a good month for Kerala RTC. Our buses met with around 10 accidents which cause the death of 8 peoples and 145 people who got injured heavily.

The invoking of devine intervention is good alright but there are some areas which needs to be addressed to curb the accidents on the road. First and foremost the drivers need training on following traffic rules and discipline on the road.

Now a days KSRTC buses are making more and more accidents. The loss to public is also more.
A month ago Super Deluxe bus from KTR to Bangalore met with an accident near Salem and two people including the driver lost their lives.

10 Accidents reported in the state this month. I would like to tell a brief information regarding those accidents here.

10) 24-05-2010 - Kollam - NH 47 - A Super Fast  Bus and lorry crashed together. Bus was going to TVM. 1 Died, 23 Injured

Readers all of you may post about the accidents that KSRTC buses make.

KSRTC authorities must open their eyes and think about this matter seriously. What is the problem behind our drivers? Are they so irresponsible? Are they not caring about the lifes of passengers in the road and on the bus? Should they be sent for some sorts of training or under counselling?

What action the authorities are taking against these people. Why they are not being punished, atleast these drivers must be asked to surrender their license.

  1. Hmm... so sad to see this. Most of the accidents are happening because of the driver's fault. I think they should take severe action against that drivers. But unfortunately we are not seeing anything like that.

What happened to that Ankamali accident? What was the exact reason? What they did to that driver? Any idea?

  2. Most of the times bus drivers don't give respect to other fellow road users, be it KSRTC or private. Truck drivers got better road manners these days as they are seeing lots of accidents and loss of lives on their stressful long trips.

  3. From Thejas Online: This year ksrtc buses made around 10 accidents,at the same time around 140 accidents reported by Private buses in Kerala.

KSRTC if far far better in this case.

Main reason is that There's no provsion for monitoring/supervision/reward/warning/punishment how a driver perform his duty..
    Roads /Vehicles condition/Rash driving/violation of traffic rules/over stress/definitily plays villain's role..
Few years ago majority of KSRTC drivers were of the average of 35years and above..Also a good share from Ex-service men!Disciplined and matured & punctual also..Now majority are below 35 age group especially in SFP/SE/deluxe...

  6. DEAR SUJITH,
THIS INFORMATION IS FOR YOU WHO CARE
AND PROTECT US VERY MUCH.ACCORDING TO LAW,EVERY
BUS SHOULD PUNCH TIME WHERE EVER THERE IS A STATION MASTER OFFICE.NOWADAYS EVERY CONDUCTORS
PUNCH TIME AT STARTING AND ENDING POINTS,OR IN MAIN STATIONS ONLY ESPECIALLY FOR LONG RUNNING SF,FP,TT ETC.IF CORRECT TIME PUNCHING IS THERE 90% OF OVER SPEEDING AND ACCIDENTS WILL BE REDUCED.
(YOU ASK OUR MD ABOUT THIS,POOR MAN, HE ONLY CARE FOR INSTITUTION AND PASSENGERS,NEVER CARE ABOUT US,THE BULLOCKS, DRIVER AND CONDUCTOR WHO IS PULLING HIS CART AND MECHANICS WHO REPAIR IT).IT IS FREQUENTLY SAID,WE NEVER BELIEVE, THAT
IF THIS IS DONE,BUS WILL NOT REACH IN TIME.O.K IT IS RIGHT.YOU KNOW, RUNNING TIME USING PRESENTLY WAS FIXED YEARS BACK,MIGHT BE 10 OR 15 OR 20 WHEN MOTOR POPULATION WAS NOTHING.WHAT IS THE PRESENT SITUATION?PASSENGERS ARE TRAVELING FOR YEARS.HE KNOW THE RUNNING TIME AND WISH TO REACH IN TIME AND BOASTS TO OTHERS YEARS BACK IT WAS REACHING BEFORE TIME,NOW THE DRIVERS ARE NOT CAPABLE.IN ORDER TO AVOID THIS TYPE OF COMPLAINTS WE ARE FORCED TO DRIVE IN SUCH A MANNER THAT OTHERS THINK IT IS RASH.IF WE DRIVE CAUTIOUSLY AT A MINIMUM SPEED TO GET BETTER MILEAGE AND SAFETY,OUR CONDUCTOR FIRST,NOT EVERYBODY,STARTS TEASING AND THEN STARTS PASSENGERS.IF RIDE AT HIGH SPEED OVERTAKING EVERY BODY THEN THEY APPRECIATE LOUDLY TILL AN ACCIDENT AND THEN ABUSING STARTS.YOU KNOW DEAR,IF WE TRY TO REACH IN TIME
TO SATISFY PASSENGERS,THEN MILEAGE GET REDUCED FOR WHICH WE ARE CAUGHT BY DEPOT ENGINEER.IF WE
DEPEND ON MILEAGE,THEN OTHER BUSES WILL OVER TAKE,TAKING AWAY COLLECTION,AGAIN WE ARE CAUGHT BY DISTRICT TRANSPORT OFFICER FOR COLLECTION LOSS.FANTASTIC,ISN'T IT! SO WE SHOULD MAKE MILEAGE,COLLECTION,TIMELY ARRIVALS,BEST SERVICE AND NO ACCIDENTS.WHAT IS THIS HIGHER OFFICIALS OF RTC DOING.DO MD KNOW IT.HOW THEY HELP POOR CREWS.WHY SAYING MORE.SHEER WASTE OF TIME.WHY M D IS NOT PUNISHING THE TIME CELL FOOLS WHO GIVE SAME TIME
FOR SAME CATEGORY SERVICE MAKING COMPETITIONS.
MR. SUJITH,WE URGE TO MEET YOU DIRECTLY SIR.

  7. @santhosh(DCMA)I agree to you that the running time is fixed at 15-20 years back and at that time the number of vehicles would be 1/5 th of the present. Also the traffic blocks is another main reason for the need overspeeding. The politicians will never make kerala improve as even for 30m wide national highway they are delaying and quarelling each other. Even from trivandrum to kollam, the given running time for A SF is 1hr 50 min, but the actual running time required through the blocks is 2Hr 20 min.The speed governor is yet another big issue. I know a ksrtc SF driver who was fined by highway police for overspeeding. But when a private bus goes in front of them with extreme speed, they would sit as they havent seen it.

I have experienced many cases such that when ever a vehicle crosses in front of a bus without having a signal or indication then driver would put sudden brakes. That time people asks"eyaal enthoru chavitta chavittunney baakki ollavarkk yathra cheyyandey". But if he doesnt brake the bus, they will ask"ayalkku enthaa chavitty nirthaan vendi alley brake ittirikkunnath" Dear DCMA, can you contact me at sankar1987v@gmail.com??

  8. I saw a small accident near Cherthala on May 28th May. A superfast bus (I think it was RAK155) was involved in it.
On 29th may I saw another small accident in front of Kaliakkavilai bus stand in the night around 8.30 PM. The bus involved was RAE491, TVM-NGL FP.
About a month ago I saw RRK948 CBE bound SEXP of TVM depot in an acident near Aluva. It's front glass was totally broken.
Two weeks back I read in the newpaper that a KYLM-PLR ordinary bus and a private bus collided in between PTPM and PLR.
So not only 10 more and more unnoticed accidents are occuring day by day.

So the authorities must make some immediate actions such as reworking the bus running time and make sure that punching is made at all bus stations or where ever there are station master offices.

  11. DCMA is beating the bush..Whatever they supply here are not the justification of killing people on road!!If motor vehicle act modified with ample provisions of punishment the accident ratein kerala will slashed down to 1/10th..
Many of drivers(Including KSRTC) go to gulf countris & drive smoothly..Why?????
Cameras & satellites are not biased...
No trade unions...No bribes & Politicians!!!!!Hw long Kerala leaders and Trade Unions can make peoples fools!!!!!!as the barriers in world are no more exist!!!
